First Light at Cloud 9

Cloud 9 in Siargao needs no introduction. But shooting it at 5:30am, when the first light hits the reef and the lineup is still empty — that's a different experience entirely. I was in the water before the locals, paddling out with my housing in the dark. By the time the first sets rolled in, the sky was on fire. Pinks, oranges, and that unmistakable Siargao blue. The regular crew started filtering in — guys I'd been shooting all week. There's a trust that builds when you're in the water together day after day. They stop performing for the camera and just surf. That's when the magic happens.
